The Story of The Crossroads Retreat
As we continue to serve the Church by providing exceptional events, ministry resources, and outreach opportunities, we are more excited than ever to see this next chapter unfold in how we can intentionally and specifically support those in ministry. Since our inception, the ministry has always been a student Summer Camp and Conference organization. Each summer, we now host over 6,000 guests on Anderson University’s campus. However, as we have matured and our guests have matured over more than two decades of ministry, our reach now includes not only students but also the leaders serving in churches and organizations.
With that said, we have dreamed of ways to support the men and women who tirelessly serve in church, missionary, and non-profit ministries. This dream has taken many forms, but recently it has solidified as a need to provide rest and retreat to those who need it most.
Before the pandemic, our team purchased a plot of land to build a facility to fulfill this goal. However, like many others, we had to press pause on the project during the pandemic. While waiting for the right time to resume, our hearts began stirring with the sense that something else might be on the horizon to further this vision. During this season, someone offered to buy the land for nearly double what we had paid. After seeking wisdom and prayer, we decided it was the right move to let go of the land and trust God for what was next. Over the following months, we waited and prayed for the right location.
In early 2023, our team began looking at lakefront properties. We envisioned that an existing home with built-in opportunities for relaxation and refreshment could be the perfect place to fulfill our vision. After much searching, we found a home on two expansive lakefront acres on beautiful Lake Hartwell, right here in Anderson County. This property now provides men and women the rest, retreat, and renewal needed to avoid burnout—something many ministry workers experience. It is also a perfect setting for groups to step away from their daily routines for coaching, training, and accessing essential ministry resources.
The Crossroads Retreat is here to bless others by providing a place of hospitality and rest, allowing ministry workers to be refreshed and equipped as they continue their invaluable work to Preach the Gospel and Make Disciples.
