The Story of The Crossroads Retreat

As we continue to serve the Church by providing exceptional events, ministry resources, and outreach opportunities, we are more excited than ever to see this next chapter unfold in how we can intentionally and specifically support those in ministry. Since our inception, the ministry has always been a student Summer Camp and Conference organization. In fact, we now host over 6,000 guests on Anderson University’s campus each summer. However, as we have matured and our guests have matured over more than two decades of ministry, our reach now includes not only the students but the leaders that are serving in churches and organizations as well.

With that said, we have dreamed of ways to support the men and women that tirelessly serve in church, missionary, and non-profit ministries. There have been various iterations of this dream, but recently it has finally been realized as a need for a place to provide rest and retreat to those that need it most.

Our team purchased a plot of land right before the pandemic in order to begin building a facility to fulfill this goal. However, as so many others, our organization had to press pause on this project during the pandemic. While waiting for the right time to make the move to “press play” again on the development of the land, our hearts had already been stirring that something else may be on the horizon for us to further this dream. It was during this season that someone came to offer us almost double the price for the land that we had just purchased two years prior! We sought the Lord and wise counsel and decided it was the right move to let go of this plot of land and trust God for what’s next. Over the next few months, we waited and prayed for the right location to become available.

At the beginning of 2023, our team began looking at lakefront properties for sale. We began to see that an existing home with a built-in opportunity for fun and refreshment would be the perfect place for our vision to be fulfilled.

After doing lots of research, we found a home on two expansive lakefront acres of land on beautiful Lake Hartwell right here in Anderson County that will provide men and women the rest, retreat, and fun needed to avoid the burnout that so many leaders and ministry workers experience. This property will also be a great location for groups to get away from their daily routines to receive necessary coaching, training, and ministry resources.

We can’t do this alone. Financially partnering with Clayton King Ministries through the General Retreat Fund will be directly used to fulfill the vision for retreat, training, and rest through events and overnight stays.  This single fund is used for a variety of needs like providing coaching and training, offsetting costs to host ministry leaders, making necessary repairs, adding resources and amenities for the retreat, and more! We are excited for the variety of ways God is using this retreat to bless others as we Preach the Gospel and Make Disciples.

Would you consider financially partnering with us? We know this will be an investment into the lives of countless men, women, and the organizations and churches whom they serve.

Thank you so much for your consideration. We are eager to take the next steps to create a haven for both hospitality and rest!
